Out at the Blog Business Summit this morning, Maryam and Robert Scoble presented a session called "10 Ways to a Killer Blog." The end result was actually 15 ways, which in my mind is like getting five for free.
A lot of what they spoke of is stuff that so few people actually have the guts to do in this new age. Amazingly, it has less to do with the actual practice of blogging, and more to do with getting away from the computer and promoting yourself.
But bottom line... it's all about community.

Tris Hussey has posted a good summary of the Small Business Blogging session that took place at the Blog Business Seminar in Seattle late on Thursday. His assessment? It was one of the most infomative sessions of the conference. After reading the summary, I have to agree with him.

When I talk about the power of RSS feeds with people, it sometimes feels like I'm speaking in some strange language that only a few understand. But with the release of Firefox 2 and Internet Explorer 7, it's now as simple as choosing the reader you want to add the feed to, then clicking on the subscribe button. Here's how it works.

A lot of the time, when I talk to about businesses about the power of social computing, I get their attention when I show them some powerful ways to keep us with their competitor through blog searches and subscribing to RSS feeds about their competitor.
But their eyes really light up when I start to talk about the power of RSS for keeping an eye on their own company.

Straying a bit today, but I just finished installing the new Google Mail Mobile Application on my Blackberry. Right before that, I bookmarked the latest version of Google Reader Mobile.
After finally getting an application called GCalSync to work properly a few weeks back, I can honestly say that my reliance on Google is now complete.

One industry that is ripe for using blogs to enhance customer service is Real Estate. Think about it... Gen-X customers -- those who turn to the Internet for pretty much everything.
But like the bulk of companies who enter the world of blogging, many well-meaning Real Estate agents who start up a blog don't recognize the reality of the demands of running a service of this nature.
