Blogs and Small Business = PB+J

Tris Hussey has posted a good summary of the Small Business Blogging session that took place at the Blog Business Seminar in Seattle late on Thursday. His assessment? It was one of the most infomative sessions of the conference.

The most noteworthy thing, in my mind, from the session was this: it's not about blogging specifically for your business. It's not about trying to get your blog to generate an income.

No. It's about blogging your industry and becoming known as an authority and an industry guru.

The rest will then -- logically -- take care of itself.

My takeaway from this session? Steve Ruble's FLEE concept.
 • Find the Internet discussion on your topic
 • Listen to the discussion
 • Engage in the discussion by linking and commenting
 • Empower people to market for you. Link to your content. Leverage your content -- it's your currency

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Alanna

http://www.craigslistsimplified.info
